The
Befriending Service is a voluntary service for older people, carers and
people with hearing loss, experiencing loneliness and isolation.
The
purpose of the scheme is to match Befrienders with clients to provide
companionship and a listening ear.
The
Befriender does not replace home helps, or carers.
Once
a Befriender has been found, the client can expect regular visits
either fortnightly or monthly depending on need.
The
Manager carefully checks each potential Befriender before any
introductions are made, as well as taking up two
references.
The Manager
will always meet with the new volunteer.
