Our Befrienders  

What skills are required to become a Befriender?

Here are a few of many:
listening space
a good sense of humour
enjoyment of social contact
ability to encourage others
promoting independence
adaptability

What do Befrienders do?

provide regular weekly visits
help ease loneliness and isolation
provide a listening ear
offer emotional and social support
provide some practical help with, for example, letter writing and light shopping.

What are the advantages of becoming a Befriender?

opportunities to meet new friends
free training and support
increased confidence
the feel good factor,  which comes from knowing you may have made a difference to someone’s life.
